A NEW FESTIVAL PREČKANJA- SCONFINAMENTI IS STARTING
The Festival Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti is the result of a cross-border collaboration between Glasbena matica Friuli Venezia Giulia, Ustanova Imago Sloveniae – Podoba Slovenije and the renowned pianist Alexander Gadjiev, who, as the initiator of the project, is also its programme director. The festival’s programme is based on world-class classical music concerts with a focus on young “stars in the making” from all over the world, artist residencies and masterclasses led by first-class pedagogues. The premiere edition of the festival will take place between 24 July and 4 August 2024, in several locations between the Gorizia region and Ljubljana. The events will be free of charge for visitors.
About the programme director
Alexander Gadjiev, the festival’s programme director and Ambassador of Europen Capital of Culture GO!2025, is one of the most prominent pianists of his generation. Born into an international family in Gorizia, Gadjiev has been winning top prizes at prestigious international competitions and performing on the world’s biggest stages from an early age. His extensive career and passion for the art of music have encouraged him to focus his energies on supporting young talent and promoting classical music across borders.
About the Masterclasses
The Festival of Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti will host two exceptional masterclasses.
Alexander Gadjiev and his father, renowned pedagogue Siavush Gadjiev, will lead a piano masterclass for 12 selected pianists to deepen their musical expression. The course will end with a concert of the participants Per aspera ad astra in Ljubljana (SI).
The second masterclass, led by Noam Sivan, world-renowned pioneer of classical improvisation, will focus on improvisation in classical music. The course participants will present their skills at the final Impromptu concert in Gorizia (IT).
About the programme
The festival programme is carefully designed to reflect the highest level of artistic performance and innovation. The opening concert will be marked by an extraordinary trio: our pianist star Alexander Gadjiev, the German-Israeli pianist Ido Ramot, who made his name as a child prodigy and today regularly collaborates with top orchestras and wins top prizes at prestigious competitions, and the Korean virtuoso Jonghwa Park, who is shaking up the world classical music scene with his technically flawless and innovative improvisational approaches.
The festival will host a number of eminent artists, such as one of the fastest rising stars of her generation, Italian cellist and pianist Miriam Prandi, and the brilliant Romanian pianist Daniel Ciobanu, who can boast outstanding successes and numerous prestigious awards; the audience will also be able to enjoy concerts by the festival’s resident ensembles, Beyond and Borderless, which bring together musicians from all over the world, thus transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.

We are immensely grateful to the EZTS GO, whose financial support has enabled us to launch this valuable inter-regional project, as we believe that in the years to come, this Festival Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti could develop into one of the central music festivals in the Gorizia cross-border area.”
