“Jazz is not just music, it’s a way of life, a way of being, a way of thinking.” (Nina Simone)
In 2011, at the initiative of Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock, UNESCO officially declared April 30 UNESCO’s International Jazz Day. Celebrated in over 190 countries, it brings together various communities, schools, artists, academics, and enthusiasts, it promotes the discovery and understanding of the exceptional heritage that is jazz, raises awareness of the importance of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding, and strengthens international cooperation and communication. It is a means of free expression that fosters respect for human rights and promotes dignity for all people regardless of their origin.
At Imago Sloveniae and Staroljubljaniski zavod, we are always pleased to join in this musical celebration. We are preparing a diverse program that will appeal to all existing and future jazz enthusiasts.
The program is coming soon.
