Once again, the Cultural Institute of Ljubljana’s Old Town, in cooperation with Ljubljana Tourism and the City Municipality of Ljubljana, is organizing our traditional Christmas concert at the Ljubljana City Hall. On this occasion, we will be able to listen to the excellent New Swing Quartet, which is celebrating 55 years this year.
Oto Pestner, tenor
Dare Hering, tenor
Tomaž Kozlevčar, baritone
Marjan Petan, bass
The internationally acclaimed tenor Oto Pestner and the New Swing Quartet need no introduction as they are widely considered one of the best gospel groups in the world. It may however be news to some that the New Swing Quartet is celebrating 55 years. In 1968, the same year Oto Pestner did his first recording at Radio Koper, the band was first formed in Šentjur near Celje following the example of the legendary American Golden Gate Quartet, with whom they later often had occasion to share the stage. The Slovenian audience soon became captivated by their renditions of spiritual songs from the American South. In more than half a century of touring, New Swing Quartet brought gospel music to audiences all over the world
