OUR SUMMER SEASON WAS A GREAT SUCCESS
Dear visitors,
We’ve successfully completed our summer concert season’s wide variety of concerts. The exceptionally numerous audience and ample media response once again confirmed the high quality and widespread recognition of Imago Sloveniae’s work. We collaborated with top-tier musicians from Slovenia and abroad and were overjoyed to host a number of international ensembles. We took special care to include some of the best up and coming musicians from the younger generation as well. We commissioned multiple new compositions and ensured they were performed at our events. We honoured the 50th anniversary of the death of the great Slovenian composer Lucijan Marija Škerjanc, 150th anniversary of Sergei Rachamninoff’s as well as the centennials of the births of composer György Ligeti and opera superstar Maria Callas. Admission-free concerts enriched the summer and at times even stood against deluges to provide safe refuge in the serene sounds of music.We are particularly proud to report that we successfully executed the international Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti piano masterclass lead by world renowned piano superstar Alexander Gadjiev.
In the course of our international festivals and concert cycles Summer in Ljubljana Old Town, Young Talents, Prečkanja – Sconfinamenti, Jazz Stage, and Nights in Ljubljana Old Town thereby included:
- 81 concerts
- 14 other cultural events
- 645 musicians from 26 countries
- 39 concert venues across Slovenia and abroad
- an audience of more then 40.000
- A multidisciplinary international symposium
- 10 concerts recorded for the national radio (Radio Slovenia – program ARS)
- 1 concert recorded for the national television (Opening of the Festival, Symphony Orchestra of SNG Maribor with solo singers – TV Slovenia, classical music department)
For 35 years, our non-profit organisation has taken pride in providing admission-free and accessible concerts of the highest quality. Aside from the enthusiastic efforts of Imago’s team such a great number of exceptional musical events was made possible by our collaborative partners, public and private funding bodies, patrons, and sponsors. We want to take this opportunity to give particular thanks to the long-standing support of the Slovenian Ministry of Culture, the City Municipality of Ljubljana, Public Institute Tourism Ljubljana, and the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO.
