The Slapar/Hude/Golob/Bostič Quartet brings together former high school classmates from the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana, who, after completing their studies at prestigious European institutions in Berlin, Basel, and Vienna, reunited musically in Slovenia. Their repertoire features original compositions by all members, alongside a selection of jazz standards, which the ensemble reinterprets through collaborative arrangement and adapts to their distinct artistic sensibility. In 2025, the quartet was awarded first prize at the national TEMSIG competition.
Jure Slapar is a distinguished Slovenian guitarist, active both nationally and internationally. After completing his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Ljubljana, he continued his education at Jazzcampus in Basel and earned his degree from the Berlin University of the Arts. In the 2023/24 season, he was selected for the prestigious FocusYear program at the Basel Academy of Music. A multiple-time recipient of awards at the national TEMSIG competition, Slapar performs regularly with various ensembles across Europe and beyond. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with some of the most renowned names in contemporary jazz, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aydin Esen, Kendrick Scott, Lionel Loueke, Linda May Han Oh, Miguel Zenón, Peter Evans, Django Bates, Malcolm Braff, Ingrid Jensen, Anders Jormin, Doug Weiss, among others.
Samo Hude is a Slovenian jazz pianist and composer who, after completing his studies in Berlin, has reestablished his artistic presence in Slovenia. He is an active member of several ensembles, including the Nenad Vasilić Trio, Nomadia, and the Igor Matković Quintet. His pianistic voice and compositional work are featured on numerous released singles and three albums.
Gal Golob is a Slovenian double bassist and cellist, active on both the national and international music scenes. He performs regularly with a variety of ensembles, including the Gal Golob Trio, Gal Golob Quartet, Gugutke, Nomadia, the Humboldt Forum Resident Music Collective, and the Maj Kavšek Quintet. He is currently completing his studies at the renowned Jazz Institut Berlin. During his time there, he was awarded second prize at the Jazzon competition twice (2022 and 2023), won the Jazz Incubator call at the Jazz Cerkno Festival, and received scholarships from the City of Ljubljana and the Deutschlandstipendium program. In 2025, he is releasing two albums: one with the Gal Golob Trio featuring guest artist Marko Črnčec, and another with the ensemble Gugutke.
Drummer Gaj Bostič began his musical education at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana under the guidance of Janez Gabrič. He is currently completing his studies in jazz drums at the University of Music and Performing Arts (MUK) in Vienna, where he studies with Mario Gonzi. Throughout his secondary and higher education, he has refined his craft with renowned mentors such as Gregory Hutchinson, Krunoslav Levačić, Dom Famularo, Jonas Burgwinkel, John Hollenbeck, and Mark Whitfield Jr. As a member of ensembles such as Hei’an, Spiral Mind, and the Vienna Composers Big Band, among others, he plays an active role in shaping the contemporary jazz and improvised music scene. He also collaborates regularly with leading Slovenian artists, including Oto Pestner, Jošt Lampret, Jure Pukl, Teo Collori, Peter Smrdel, Tomaž Gajšt, and many others. In 2024, he participated in the residency program Mladi raziskovalci VII with his original project MRK and is currently preparing to release his debut album in the fall.
