Imer Traja Brizani, synonymous with the contemporary Roma music culture movement, will this time combine Roma tradition with flamenco and jazz improvisation, as well as the unique artistic expressions of the younger and middle generations of music authors. His music inspires with its characteristic sincerity, which stems from the Roma tradition and significantly enriches Slovenian and international musical creativity.

He founded the Amala group in 1996, with which he preserves the rich Roma musical heritage, while masterfully combining elements of traditional Roma music with jazz, classical, and popular music. The band has performed at numerous jazz and ethnic music festivals in Slovenia and abroad.

In 2016, the then President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, awarded him a medal of merit for his creative contribution to the promotion and recognition of Roma culture in Slovenia. “Without tradition, every culture is empty, and without innovation and modernity, it is poor. The Roma people, to whom I belong, are marginalized everywhere. I strive to set an example so that this would not be the case, and my basic guiding principle is intercultural dialogue,” said Imer Brizani, who has spent his entire life striving to enrich Roma culture and build bridges between tradition and modernity.
