JADRANKA JURAS: DVA ČRNA VRANA (Slovenia)

Jadranka Juras, accompanied by a jazz ensemble, presents music from her most recent album Dva črna vrana (Two Black Ravens, ZKP RTV Slovenia, 2025). The project features musical compositions by jazz pianist Milan Stanisavljević, with Slovene lyrics by Maja Pihler Stermecki and Jadranka Juras herself. While rooted in jazz, the album also occasionally explores singer-songwriter forms and even elements of pop chanson (popevka). The album brings collaborations with notable Slovenian jazz musicians such as Robert Jukič, Kristijan Krajnčan and Aleš Suša, with additional freshness provided by actor and singer Saša Tabaković and Croatian jazz guitarist Elvis Penava. The string arrangements were written by Matija Krečič.

Jadranka Juras started her musical journey with the band planet Groove and later pursued jazz studies at the Jazz Institute of the University of Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, graduating in jazz singing under Prof. Dena DeRose in 2008. Her desire for exploring an original artistic expression led to two notable projects: her debut album Anima and the follow-up Sakura. Both received favorable reviews, with several songs reaching the top of radio charts in Slovenia. Throughout her career, Jadranka has collaborated with leading Slovenian composers and musicians and has performed extensively both internationally and at home. Over the last fifteen years, she has been exploring classical singing, performing on opera stages. Additionally, she has released two jazz albums, Paris Honey (2016) in You and I and the Music in collaboration with Big Band RTV Slovenija (2019).
