On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Janez Matičič, the two pianists pay tribute to one of the leading figures of Slovenian post-war musical modernism. Having spent a significant part of his creative life in Paris, Matičič brought a distinctly European perspective to the Slovenian musical landscape, opening it to the currents of twentieth-century modernist thought. His oeuvre is characterised by refined sonic imagination, a strong pianistic dimension, and a subtle synthesis of contemporary compositional techniques with an intensely expressive musical language. In 2024, the artists Lovorka Nemeš Dular and Jasmina Trajcheska recorded Perspektive klavirskega opusa (Perspectives of the Piano Oeuvre), an album devoted entirely to Janez Matičič and to his lesser-known early works for solo piano.

Lovorka Nemeš Dular is a pianist, musicologist and pedagogue whose artistic profile brings together solo and chamber performance, scholarly inquiry and educational work. Her interpretative approach is distinguished by analytical depth, a thoughtful engagement with musical material and a particular affinity for lesser-known repertoire and contemporary musical creation. She studied piano at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Dubravka Tomšič Srebotnjak and continued her artistic development at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne with Arbo Valdma, while also working closely with Konstantin Bogino and Marina Horak. In pursuit of a broader understanding of musical thought and practice, she also completed studies in musicology at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana. As a soloist, chamber musician and collaborator with various ensembles, she performs regularly at festivals and concert series in Slovenia and abroad, appearing at international festivals across Austria, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and elsewhere in Europe. Collaboration with contemporary composers and the performance of newly written works form an important part of her artistic activity. Her work also encompasses studio recordings, regular collaborations with RTV Slovenia and music journalism through contributions to the journal Glasna. She is currently a piano teacher at the Grosuplje Music School.

Jasmina Trajcheska is a Macedonian pianist with an active international concert and pedagogical career, and a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions at national and international competitions in Italy, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and beyond. Her artistic profile is shaped by a wide-ranging performance activity encompassing solo recitals, chamber music projects and appearances at festivals across Europe. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed at festivals and concert series in Slovenia, Italy, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Türkiye and North Macedonia, including Musica di LagunaEurochestries Charente-Maritime, Imago Sloveniae, Grajske harmonije and Zlatna lira. She studied at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje under Professor Valerij Stefanovski and further refined her artistic development through masterclasses with distinguished international pianists and pedagogues. Contemporary musical creation occupies an important place within her artistic work, particularly in the field of contemporary Macedonian repertoire. Since 2021, she has been a member of the Society for Contemporary Music Art (SMUM), while also serving as Professor of Piano at the State Music and Ballet School Ilija Nikolovski–Luj in Skopje.
