“Music unites people” is the motto of Colluvio – an international cooperation project of musicians in the form of a chamber music course, marking its 25th anniversary this year. Each year in early August, in the relaxed atmosphere of Gut Hornegg in Austria, 9 to 12 young musicians come together. Students and pupils of music schools from various countries, aged 18-29, are invited to participate in the 10-day course, where they are organized into chamber groups; this year, forming two piano trios and a piano quintet.
The small number of participants ensures a high quality of work, with ensembles practicing key repertoire works for piano trios and quintets under the precise guidance of renowned musicians. This year, they were mentored by Ukrainian pianist Anna Ulaieva, Serbian violinist Olivera Milić-Hiršer, and Austrian cellist Meinhard Holler, who is also the conceptual leader of the project. Their performance was further refined over the last two days by Austrian pianist Claus Christian Schuster.
Each year, the young musicians present the results of their work on an international concert tour in Austria, Germany, Serbia, Macedonia, Croatia, and other countries. During their time together, the musicians get to know each other well and bridge intercultural differences through their collaboration on the project. Furthermore, one of the important goals of the Colluvio project, as seen by its artistic leaders, is to encourage interest in classical music among younger audiences, with the belief that young musicians can best achieve this through their performances.
