Mythopoetic folk, deeply rooted in nature and archetypal allegories, enriched with polyphonic singing.

Nika Prusnik & bratje Poljanec are a Slovenian band that weaves together the poetic voice and words of poet and singer Nika Prusnik with the musical sensibilities of the three Poljanec brothers – Nejc on accordion, Jon on double bass, and Luka on percussion.

Their music, a form of mythopoetic folk, is deeply rooted in nature and archetypal imagery, enriched by polyphonic singing in their mother tongue inspired by Slovenian traditional songs. Their pieces speak of the cycles of life and death, of kinship with the wilderness, of love that extends beyond an individual’s lifetime and of the hidden layers of existence.

On stage, the band is known for intimate, atmospheric performances often described as mystical rituals. Music, lyrics, and sound merge to create the sensation of entering a secret forest chapel. Their style is marked by lush harmonies, finely shaped dynamics, and a devotion to a warm, organic sound. It’s as if they come from time immemorial and yet are entirely of the present moment.

Their debut album, Ob reki mmmm, was released on 30 May 2025 by ZKP RTV Slovenija.
