WORKSHOP OF SLOVENIAN TRADITIONAL MULTIPART SINGING
ACCOMPANYING PROGRAM
The workshop will explore selected forms of multipart singing in Slovenian folk traditions, both in Slovenia and among Slovenian communities across the border. No previous singing experience is required—only an enthusiasm for singing and a willingness to sing together.
The workshop is part of the International Symposium of the ICTMD Study Group on Multipart Music, taking place from 19th to 22nd August 2026 at Gosposka dvorana and City Museum, Ljubljana.
This year’s International Symposium of the ICTMD Study Group on Multipart Music will focus on the themes Borders, Borderlands, and Cross-Border Traditions and Transmissions of Multipart Music.
The symposium will present the latest research on the preservation, transmission, and recreation of multipart music traditions in the context of contemporary social, demographic, and technological changes. Special attention will also be given to the development of polyphony in instrumental music and the interplay between vocal and instrumental multipart music.
