Soprano Eva Černe Avbelj began her professional music career at the age of just 16, winning the television talent competition Bitka talentov (Battle of the Talents). In the years that followed, she released her debut solo album, won the Slovenska popevka festival and took second place in EMA, Slovenia’s national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She went on to study classical singing at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, where she completed her master’s degree in 2016 under Professor Alenka Dernač Bunta. In 2014, she made her debut at the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor as the First Wood Sprite in Dvořák’s opera Rusalka. In 2015, she made her debut at the Ljubljana Opera House as Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen. Her operatic roles have also included Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Cupid in Offenbach’s operetta Orpheus in the Underworld, the Naiad in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, and Ariana in Rok Golob’s cosmic opera The Sound, staged in Ljubljana. She has also performed as the First Lady and the First Boy in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at both of Slovenia’s national opera houses. In collaboration with the Slovenian Chamber Musical Theatre, she has appeared as Sandrina in Puccini’s opera La contadina in corte (The Maid in the Court) and as Miranda in Jonathan Dove’s The Gentle Giant by Michael McNeff.

As a soloist, she performs with numerous Slovenian orchestras, including the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Police Orchestra, the Slovenian Armed Forces Orchestra and the Ljubljana Soloists. In 2019, she appeared as a guest soloist with the Sacramento Choral Society in concerts in Ljubljana and Zagreb. She is also highly active in popular music and musical theatre. In the musical Veronika Deseniška, she created the title role of Veronika in its world premiere, and she played the leading role of Maria in The Sound of Music. She also performs regularly as a soloist at the Studenec Summer Theatre. In addition, she appears at numerous official ceremonies, television programmes and music festivals. In recent years, she has increasingly devoted herself to rediscovering and bringing Slovenian folk songs to new audiences.
