ORGAN CYCLE: Klaus Kuchling and Hannes Kawrza

Hannes Kawrza, saxophone
Klaus Kuchling, organ

Renowned Austrian performers and respected music educators Klaus Kuchling and Hannes Kawrza use their music to lead listeners into special realms, while at the same time taking them on a journey through diverse musical styles, moods, and emotions. The duo—an unusual yet exceptionally well-balanced combination of saxophone and organ—offers interpretations of works by composers such as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Peter Planyavsky, Harold Arlen, Volker Bräutigam, Gregor Ftičar, Zsolt Gárdonyi, and Michael Wasserfaller.

A colorful sonic experience ranging from the classical repertoire to jazz sounds and improvisations—or, in short: “FREEquences”!

Playing the organ is an expression of will filled with a vision of eternity,” wrote French composer and organist Charles-Marie Widor. As W. A. Mozart also stated, the organ is the king of instruments. This instrument offers the performer endless interpretive possibilities while requiring a well-rounded and versatile musical personality.

To promote and popularize organ music, Radio Slovenia’s Ars program and Imago Sloveniae are organizing its fourth organ concert cycle, titled Obiski kraljice v živo (Visits of the Queen). Renowned domestic and international organists are featured, performing selected programs on some of the finest Slovenian organs.

The concert is also part of Ars’s Jazz Ars All Stars series

Free admission.

Recordings of the concerts will be broadcast on Program Ars on Sundays, September 21 and October 19, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., as part of the program Obiski kraljice (Visits of the Queen).
