Seasoned conductor and co-founding and artistic director of Capriccio and Capriccio Jubilee Singers Larry Griffin holds a Master of Music degree from The Ohio State University where he studied conducting with Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University, and has done graduate work at Ohio State and Wright State Universities. Larry retired from Worthington Schools, where he had served as Director of Choral Music at Worthington Kilbourne High School since its opening in 1991. He has also been director of Vaud-Villities, Director of the Men’s Chorus at St Charles Preparatory School in Bexley, the Mansfield Symphony Chorus and the Worthington United Methodist Church choir. He currently directs the Clintonville Community Choir and serves as bass soloist for the Linworth United Methodist Church. He is active in the Ohio Music Educators Association, having served as president of District 16, and annually participates in OMEA events as an adjudicator, director of honors-choir festivals, and clinician. The Columbus Symphony Orchestra recognized Larry for his skills in choral conducting and teaching by presenting him with the Secondary School Music Educator Award.

Capriccio Columbus Choir has been giving stirring vocal performances for over a decade. Under founding Artistic Director Larry Griffin and Associate Director Karrie Horton, Capriccio covers a wealth of musical traditions, ranging from sacred and classical masterpieces to fresh takes on great standards. Singers are frequently accompanied by ensembles of professional instrumentalists, ranging from orchestral strings to jazz combos. In addition to its own independent seasonal schedules, Capriccio gladly collaborates with other excellent ensembles, such as the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the Central Ohio Symphony, the Westerville Symphony, Otterbein University Choirs, and the Ohio State University Orchestra, Chorale, and Symphonic Choir. Capriccio has toured Costa Rica, Ireland and Scotland and gladly accepted the invitation to perform with the Stacey V. Gibbs Chorale in Detroit and at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall. This year, we finally have a chance to see them here in Europe as well.
