Gernot Winischhofer was born in Vienna, where he studied at the Wiener Musikhochschule with H. Binder, at Salzburg Mozarteum with Sandor Vegh and at Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Valery Klimov. He has collaborated with conductors such as Sergiu Commisiona, Christian Thielemann, and Saulius Sondeckis, and orchestras such as Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg Philharmonic Orchestra, Hermitage Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg, Janáček Philharmonic, and Vienna, Moscow, Lithuania, and Prague (Sukov) Chamber Orchestras. Winischhofer has performed, among others, at the Grand Festival Hall in Salzburg, at the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, at Prague Spring Festival, at Carinthian Summer Festival, and at Vienna Festive Weeks. He also performed chamber music with artist such as Josef Suk, Tanja Grindenko, Igor Oistrach, Paul Badura Skoda, Jörg Demus, Pavel Gililov, appearing with Orchestras like Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg in the Big Festival Hall, Athen State Orchestra in Megaron, Enescu PH Bucharest in Atheneum, and many others. He has toured through USA, Egypt, England, France, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey. Together with Igor and Valeriy Ojstrah, he founded the Ojstrah ensemble, he is also the founder of the Vienna Philharmonic Piano Quintet and the Trio di Vienna, and artistic director of the Ost-West-Musikfest Festival established in 1987. From 1992 to 2015 he taught violin at the Private Music and Art University of Vienna, and with his best students in 2010 founded the Camerata Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
Admission free. Free tickets can be picked up the last hour before the concert at the entrance to the City Museum. The number of seats is limited, so we advise you to arrive a little earlier.
Due to the amendments to the decree on the temporary restriction of the cultural services, event may be attended only by persons with a certificate of: recovery of covid-19 (P), vaccination (C) or a negative test result, which must not be older than 48 hours (T). Respecting the PCT condition is responsibility of the visitor. Certificate is not required for children under the age of 18 who attend the event with close family members or guardians.
Due to safety measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 infections, all visitors must wear protective facemasks, disinfect their hands regularly, and observe a safety distance of at least 1,5 m.
Entry to the event is only possible with a ticket, visitors are asked to enter the venue individually, hostesses will accompany them to a vacant seat. If you suspect that you have come in contact with the coronavirus or are showing typical signs of the disease, do not attend the event.
