Production: Skladišče 172

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750), Goldberg Variations, BWV 988

The collaboration between dancer Anja Mejač and harpsichordist Eva Dolinšek meets in the form of a dance concert within the timeless space of the Goldberg Variations. This multilayered work by Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach consists of an aria and 30 variations that follow it. “For me, they represent the cycle of life, because they begin and end with the same thought,” says Eva about the variations. Musically, it is a demanding piece, and in the world of dance, Goldberg has also already earned a unique status. The choreography, based on flamenco dance, introduces the foundation for further variation in place of the aria. Perhaps flamenco and the Baroque have much in common. Both imbued with pleasure, disguised in brilliant images, clothed in a veil of the unpredictable.
