with Dr. Mojca Kovačič and Eva Fekonja, M.A., from the Institute of Ethnomusicology ZRC SAZU.
Before the Grafenauer Flamenco Project concert, Dr. Mojca Kovačič and Eva Fekonja, M.A., will introduce the event with a discussion exploring the exciting intersection between a contemporary Slovenian composer’s approach to the Spanish folk tradition of flamenco and the broader meanings of folk music in modern contexts.
Dr. Mojca Kovačič is Head and Research Fellow at the Institute of Ethnomusicology ZRC SAZU. Her research focuses on folk music processes within broader social and political frameworks, including gender, migration, minority settings, nationalism, cultural policy, and the heritage of music in post-socialist societies. She also lectures at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and serves as the national representative to the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance.
