The Ljubljana Soloists String Orchestra (originally Young Ljubljana Soloists) was founded in 2010 at the initiative of the violinist Nejc Avbelj. It consists of the most successful Slovenian string players. Among their ranks are members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, prominent members of the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the SNG Opera and Ballet Maribor, the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra from Klagenfurt and mentors from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and conservatories in Ljubljana, Maribor and Celje. The orchestra provides a platform for members to find their own musical expression and perfect their sense of group playing, enabling everyone invaluable experiences that have significant impact on their further careers. Critics say that “the orchestra is distinguished by its technical integrity and its youthful enthusiasm, which breathes a special freshness into the music.”

Petra Kovačič has been a member of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2016. She completed her studies at the University of Music and Visual Arts in Vienna, in the class of renowned soloist and professor Roswitha Randacher. She took master classes with renowned violin pedagogues (V. Steude, M. Šetena, P. Götzel, L. Honda Rosenberg, M. Frischenschlager, H. Fister, P. Novšak, V. Meljnikov, T. Lorenz …). The multiple award-winner of national and international competitions completes her musical career as a chamber musician in various ensembles with whom she performs at renowned music festivals.
