The star of this year’s evening of Christmas gospels and soul hits is the Slovenian »Queen of Soul« Maja Keuc – Amaya, accompanied by the seven-member soul / gospel vocal group Soul Out.
Slovenia met Maja Keuc – Amaya in 2010 on the popular show Slovenia Has Talent. A year later, she represented our country at the semi-final night of the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf. She released her first album »Po viharju« (»After the Storm«) in collaboration with the group Papir, and was welcomed by critics as a highly desirable refreshment on the music scene. Three years after her meteoric rise, Amaya decided to hone her talent abroad. In 2016 she completed her music studies at the Rotterdam Academy with honors, and released her first international mini-album, Fairytales. She is currently working at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, where major artists such as Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Roxette (and others) made their recordings. She lives in Stockholm, where she is part of the creative team named Baggpipe, working under the mentorship of Anders Bagg, one of today’s most successful songwriters. She is also completing a solo project, which she says is her most personal work to date. She developed her talent for jazz-, soul- and R&B styles with world-class musical geniuses such as Quincy Jones, Jacob Collier, Dirty Loops, Anomalie, Stefan Milenković, Sting and Laibach.
The vocal group Soul Out is an innovative devotee of gospel and soul music, captivating with voice power and passion. It boasts superb vocals, sophisticated and rich harmonies. The group has just completed two projects, with one of our most famous rappers Nipke and the classic vocal trio Tosca Beat. Members of the Soul Out are Mateja Zwitter (also artistic director), Julijana Šubarič, Ana Pirnat, Neža Kirn, Maja Žumer, Ivana Honsić and Petra Doles.
