Vukovar-born drummer Ratko Divjak is one of the most established drummers from the former Yugoslavia. Although he successfully started his musical career in rock waters, he was conquered by the world of jazz. At barely nineteen, he was already a member of the B.P. Convention, with which he played for several years at major jazz festivals in Montreal, Budapest, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Berlin, Prague, Vienna and elsewhere. In 1973 he became a member of the Big Band of RTV Slovenia, with which he played as the first drummer until 2013. Among many ensembles he performed with the New Swing Quartet, Greentown Jazz Band, Ugrin-Divjak Quintet and others. He is an acquaintance of international festival stages in Monterey, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Montreaux, Berlin and Bologna, where he has performed with world-renowned musicians such as Art Farmer, Gary Burton, Stan Getz, Joe Pass, N.H.O.P. Pedersen, Sal Nistico, Albert Mangelsdorf, Dusko Gojković, Dave Libman, Stjepko Gut, Tony Coe, Ferdinand Powel, Gianni Basso, Richard Davis and Joe Pass. Recently, he has performed at well-known jazz clubs and festivals with excellent Slovenian musicians, such as Primož Grašič, Jani Moder, Lenart Krečič, Peter Ugrin, Jure Pukl, Marko Črnčec, Tomaž Gajšt, Tadej Kampl, Peter Mihelič and Robi Jukič. The Ratko Divjak Quartet’s line-up also includes seasoned studio musician, producer and member of many successful bands Jani Hace, established keyboardist with numerous projects and two well-received CDs Milan Stanisavljević and Novi Sad-born saxophonist Adam Klemn, who has lived in Ljubljana since 2005 and he is, among other things, a soloist of the Big Band of RTV Slovenia and a member of the artistic council of the jazz festival in Novi Sad.
