Tango Story is a project of the Maribor 2012 – The European Capital of Culture. Together with the world-famous violinist Stefan Milenković, members of the project performed at the biggest stages in Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia, and had a very successful tour in the USA. This time they return in a top combination with accordion virtuoso Borut Zagoranski, excellent violinist Matija Krečič, legendary double bassist Žiga Golob, multiinstrumentalist Marko Korošec, and pianist and artistic director Mladen Delin. Internationally renowned musicians will take you from the old Tango Viejo, from inns and brothels, to Tango Nuevo – classic modern tango. You will be able to hear the famous compositions of Astor Piazzolla, the traditional hits of Carlos Gardel, and other great masters of tango. World tango champions Andreja Podlogar and Blaž Bertoncelj are the most prominent Slovenian dancers and choreographers of Argentine tango. In 1998, they won the title of world champions in Argentine tango, and five years later, with their performance at the 5th International Argentine Tango Festival in Buenos Aires, they impressed the audience and the media. They have also performed in the USA, Hong Kong, Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, and China. The singing guest will be Irena Yebuah Tiran, soloist and member of several chamber ensembles in Slovenia and abroad.
