Jazz Stage: TG KVARTET (Slovenia)

The group first formed as a trio at the start of 2020. No more than half a year later, the initial line-up of drums, piano, and double bass was completed with the addition of a guitarist. All four band members are this year’s graduates of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana. Under the mentorship of Peter Smrdel, TG Kvartet won first place and a golden plaque at the TEMSIG Slovenian National Music Competition for Yong Musicians in the category of chamber jazz ensembles. The band conquered the hearts of audiences at numerous Slovenian jazz venues, such as Ljubljana’s Jazz Club Gajo, Jazz Camp Kranj, Grand Hotel Union Garden, on the Croatian island of Rab, and last but certainly not least, the seminal Slovenian national radio programme, Prva Vrsta. Their repertoire will combine traditional jazz with a contemporary touch and supplement a programme of jazz standards with their own original songs.
