THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF BRUSSELS SYMPHONIC BAND
The ISB Symphonic Band is the premier wind ensemble of the International School of Brussels. The group is comprised of students between the ages of 13 and 17 years old from many different countries including New Zealand, Turkey, Mexico, France, England, Ireland, Belgium, Canada, Singapore, Australia, the Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Israel, South Korea, Italy, Austria and the United States of America. The Symphonic Band, under the baton of director Carolyn Stock-Chapin is an outstanding ensemble that has received accolades both within their own community and abroad for their superb performances. Within this group, there is a smaller jazz ensemble (the ISB Jazz Orchestra), and a percussion ensemble. Many individuals from this ensemble have been selected to participate in world honor band and jazz groups that are facilitated by the well-established organization: the Association of Music in International Schools. Each year, several members of this ensemble have gone on to pursue advanced music studies in university – as majors, minors, or in community groups. This ensemble, with Ms. Stock-Chapin and the bands assistant, Tania Absillis, has performed in Prague, Czech Republic; Barcelona, Spain; Budapest, Hungary; New York, New York; and multiple performances at Euro Disney in Paris, France. This is their first time touring in Slovenia.
