The Young Chamber Philharmonic Rhein-Neckar is one of the best nonprofessional chamber orchestras in Germany. They have won multiple awards, including first prize at the Viennese Summa cum laude competition. Their story started in 2002 at Musik- und Singschule Heidelberg (Music and Singing School Heidelberg), where the orchestra was founded under the name of Heidelberg Young Chamber Orchestra. In 2008, they embarked on a new path, changing their name to the current one. The orchestra comprises of students of music and other young hobbyists from Heidelberg, the Rhein-Neckar region and elsewhere in Germany. Since April 2007, the orchestra has been led by Thomas Kalb, former general music director of the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Members of the orchestra are brought together by their desire to dedicate themselves to their hobby–music–beside their school and work responsibilities. Coming together every weekend for intensive practice, young musicians always come up with a demanding and interesting repertoire. They have played outside Germany and Europe, too: beside  concerts in Austria and France, they have also toured Canada (2010 and 2011), USA (2011), New Zealand (2013), Chile (2017), Ghana (2019) and South Africa (2020).
