The Tomi Purich BALKAN JAZZ Group presents a distinctive fusion of ethnic and jazz idioms, blending musical elements from the Orient, the Balkans, and the Istrian Peninsula with original jazz improvisation and unconventional rhythms. Their repertoire includes original compositions, traditional folk melodies, and arrangements of popular tunes. With the release of their third album PiranOhrid, the ensemble delves even deeper into the exploration of musical boundaries. Conceptually, the album bridges the warmth and passion of the East with the structure and refinement of the West. Balkan and Istrian sonorities merge with jazz forms and rhythmic freedom to create a unique synthesis of ethno-jazz — a genre the ensemble fittingly describes as balkan jazz.
