The vocal group Bird-land is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It focuses entirely on choral performances of jazz compositions, without the use of accompanying instruments or beatboxing. To date, the group has performed at over 100 events both in Slovenia and abroad. They have participated in highly demanding competitions such as VokalTotal in Graz and the Harmonie Festival in Germany. In addition, Bird-land has performed in Finland, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Jazz Division of the Academy of Music, launched in the academic year 2023/2024, opens the door to a world of improvisation, rhythm, and freedom of musical expression. Through subjects such as big band, combo, jazz improvisation, arranging, music theory, and jazz history, students immerse themselves in the rich tradition and contemporary streams of jazz music. Regular concerts, live performances, jam sessions, and creative workshops ensure that the music does not stay only on paper – it truly comes alive on stage!
