WHITEFISH BAY HIGH SCHOOL STRING ORCHESTRA
The string orchestra of the Whitefish Bay High School is returning to Slovenia after a successful tour in 2008. The orchestra has been active since the founding of Whitefish Bay School in 1929, and in its 87 years of operation has created a rich collection of tours both abroad and within the United States. In 1988, it was the first American school orchestra to perform in Russian schools, and in 2010, at the invitation of Carnival Cruise, they performed for guests of Destiny ship on a Caribbean cruise. They have also toured Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Puerto Rico and Argentina, among others.
The Whitefish Bay String Orchestra has been conducted since 2004 by Kathryn Dow Borghesani, a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and a recipient of a master’s degree in conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
