ZHLEHTET (Slovenia)

Zhlehtet is a musical collective under the direction of respected jazz pianist and composer Rok Zalokar. It appears in various combinations of members and combines dimensions of acoustic and electronic sound. Rooted in the tradition of spiritual jazz, it remains true to the message of tranisence and mutual understanding. The ensemble’s distinctive sound blends elements of live improvisation with contemporary music production. Following the successes of albums Toyomi, Celica, and Portals Vol. 1 (the latter was named by Mladina magazine and Radio Študent as one of the best albums of 2022), the compilation Poletje Loops ldocumented the unique concert experience of spontaneous music-making in diverse venues, from jazz clubs to psy-trance festivals. Their next release, Podhod, focuses on the meditative experience of live performance, while this year’s album, Vrt, explores the relationship between music and venue.
