The European Spirit of Youth Orchestra (ESYO) is an international symphony orchestra founded in 1994 by the renowned violinist and conductor, a Trieste Slovene Igor Coretti Kuret. The orchestra brings together outstanding young musicians from across Europe and beyond, selected through auditions and united by a shared commitment to artistic excellence, collaboration, and cultural exchange.Over more than three decades of activity, ESYO has become one of the most recognized international youth orchestras in the region, welcoming more than 3,000 musicians from over 25 countries. Many former members today perform in leading European and world orchestras, chamber ensembles, and opera houses. The orchestra has appeared at prestigious festivals and concert venues throughout Europe, collaborating with internationally acclaimed conductors and soloists. ESYO’s current lineup includes young musicians from 18 countries: Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Italy, North Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine, and Hungary.Beyond its artistic mission, ESYO represents a platform of friendship, dialogue, and European values. Through intensive rehearsal residencies and concert tours, young musicians experience intercultural cooperation and develop lasting artistic and personal connections. The orchestra’s repertoire spans from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, with performances marked by youthful energy, musical passion, and a strong collective spirit.
