JAZZ CONCERT ZHLEHTET – NEW ALBUM (Slovenia)
Rok Zalokar, keys, electronics
Lenart De Bock, flute, saxophone
Alja Petric, vocals, percussion
Zhlehtet is a music collective led by pianist and composer Rok Zalokar. It performs in various formats, blending dimensions of acoustic and electronic sound. Rooted in the tradition of spiritual jazz, it remains committed to the message of the moment and mutual understanding. The collective’s beginnings trace back to 2019, when a distinctive sound emerged through a combination of live performances and work in a music studio. The albums “Toyomi” and “Celica” document this period, integrating elements of live improvisation and modern music production. The next album, “Portals Vol. 1,” features compositions by the collective in a jazz quintet format, and it was selected among the best albums of 2022 by Mladina magazine and Radio Študent.
In 2023, the collective showcased an energetic live compilation “Poletje Loops,” capturing the uniqueness of the concert experience through spontaneous music-making at diverse venues—from jazz clubs to psy-trance festivals. The upcoming release “Podhod”, being presented during the week following International jazz day focuses on the meditative experience of live performance. The underlying theme of the ensemble is to channel the energy of the concert evening, thus weaving a collective experience together with the audience.
The concert takes place within the broader framework of UNESCO’s International Jazz Day.
