An energetic blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms characterized by the unique music style of the band which is considered one of the most recognizable in this part of Europe.
Cubismo is a legendary band (founded in 1995 in Zagreb) that captivates audiences with hot Latin jazz and salsa. It is named after Gillespie’s song Cu-bi Cu-bop, and its members come from Croatia, Cuba, Venezuela and Slovenia. The group has released a number of extremely successful albums, mostly in worldwide distribution. Cubismo is also the most successful group in the history of the Croatian Porin Music Awards: it received a record twenty-one Porins and was nominated thirty-five times.
Cubismo has collaborated with many global music celebrities. Their Motivo Cubano album was recorded in Cuba with members of the famous Buena Vista Social Club. The Viva la Habana album featured guest Yolanda Duke, then a singer at the Tito Puente Orchestra. Among Croatian musicians, Cubismo has hosted music legends such as Josipa Lisac, Gabi Novak, Stjepan Jimmy Stanić, Oliver Dragojević and others on their albums and concerts; from the wider South Slavic area, their guests include names and ensembles such as Vlada Divljan (Idoli), the Macedonian Kočani Orkestar and the “king” of Romani music, Šaban Bajramović.
Cubismo has always been proud of its multicultural approach: musicians believe it contributes to spreading of music and human authenticity. Cubismo’s strongest side, however, is concerts and live performances, with enormous positive energy that the audience cannot resist.
