Goran Bojčevski’s original genre (Balkan nuevo) connects diversity – from the Southern temperament to classical structures, from Balkan patterns to Latin music.
Goran Bojčevski Quintet mainly performs the works of Goran Bojčevski, together with a variety of music, known to everyone (ranging from Bach to Piazzolla, Macedonian folk songs, etc.), which in Bojčevski’s arrangements and in ethno-jazz disguise, sounds completely unique – as so-called Balkan Nuevo.
Each of the musicians undoubtedly achieves perfection. However, when the energies of individuals merge into a single one, a very special story occurs and convinces us that it is not just possible to mix different musical genres, but it is something magical.
Goran Bojčevski completed his master’s degree in clarinet with the highest grade at the prestigious Salzburg Mozarteum, in the class of world-renowned professor Alois Brandhofer. The answers.com forum ranks the Macedonian-Slovenian clarinetist among the best in the world. Bojčevski is also a composer. He creates music for films, commercials, ballet, and has also written a full-length suite Balkan Portraits and recorded it in collaboration with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra. He is particularly honored to have his compositions performed at universities around the world, especially at the Mozarteum of Salzburg. He is the founder of Balkan Nuevo music style, which relies on the musician’s Balkan roots, enriched with elements of classical and tango music. Among other performances, he presented the new »genre« very successfully in the full Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom.
