On the eve of International Jazz Day, Metlika will celebrate this important music genre with a concert by Kristina Oberžan Quartet. Kristina’s strong voice and sensual interpretations are like a gift for the audience’s soul. Her confidence and maturity along with her playful and innocent presence on stage create a charming and personal musical experience that cannot easily be forgotten. Kristina Oberžan holds a master’s degree in jazz singing from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and has received numerous international awards and scholarships during her studies. In 2007, she released her first CD dedicated to Slovenian oldies goldies called Kakor lep roman (Like a Beautiful Novel) under RTV Slovenia Records & Tapes label. That year, she received Best Performer award at Slovenska popevka festival. In 2016, she released her second solo CD, My Heart Knew. Between 2008 and 2011, she taught singing at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana and at St Stanislav Institution. Her path then took her to the UK, where she lived until 2017. Currently, she is devoting her time to teaching as well as her singing career.

For International Jazz Day festivities, she is joined by three renowned Slovenian jazz players: the excellent Nikola Matošić on double bass, Nejc Škofic on piano and Borut Rampih on drums.
