UNESCO WORLD JAZZ DAY
April 30th is UNESCO World Jazz Day, celebrated in more than 190 countries. Imago Sloveniae also joined this event this year. In cooperation with the UNESCO youth platform of the UN Association for Slovenia, we will prepare three concerts with a small delay on 5th May. The Nikola Matošič trio will perform at the Street food market – Jug Tržnice BTC City at 2 p.m., and the Luka Matić Trio and Jadranka Juras Jazz Quintet will perform at Stari trg at 8 p.m.
At the initiative of the legendary jazz composer Herbie Hancock, UNESCO declared World Jazz Day at the General Assembly in 2011. The following year, the United Nations added it to its calendar.
UNESCO recognizes jazz music as a means of freedom of expression and dialogue between cultures, as a synonym for respect for human rights and the dignity of women and men, regardless of their origin.
Admission to the concerts is free!
