EVENTS ACROSS SLOVENIA MARK INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2026

Imago Sloveniae once again joins the celebration of International Jazz Day in Slovenia. This year’s diverse event programme, prepared especially for the occasion and held under the auspices of Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO, will take place in Ljubljana, Metlika, Semič, Piran, Postojna, Ptuj, and other locations and venues across the country. You are kindly invited to join us!

At the initiative of legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, UNESCO proclaimed April 30 as International Jazz Day in November 2011. In 2012, the United Nations added the day to its official calendar, and today it is celebrated in more than 190 countries worldwide. Even though UNESCO marks International Jazz Day on April 30, the celebration in Slovenia continues to grow each year, with this year’s jazz events taking place across the country from April 16 through May 5.

International Jazz Day is significant not just for promoting jazz music, but also for celebrating the values at the heart of this art form. UNESCO recognizes jazz as a powerful means of freedom of expression and intercultural dialogue, as well as promoting the rescpet for human rights and the dignity of all people and genders, regardless of their background.
